POSTDOCTORAL POSITION BIOCHEMISTRY IN PARIS

A 2 to 5-YEAR POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN PARIS

A Post-doctoral Position, awarded by The Leducq Foundation, is immediately available at the INSERM-UPMC (University
Pierre & Marie Curie)-Paris VI, Hôpital Pitié-Salpêtrière, in a dynamic
research group highly interested in cardiac cell membrane expression of
ion channels. The lab is
localized in center Paris.

The Project: Our group is
conducting fundamental research to characterize the development and
electrophysiological consequences of cardiac heterogeneity at the
molecular, cellular and tissue
levels, in the context of cardiac arrhythmias. Many study axis are
currently investigated, such as the
roles of protein partners specialized in the anchoring and the targeting
of ion channels (Circ Res. 2009
27;104(6):758-69.) and the role of vesicle trafficking in the control of
ion channels in the cell membrane
(Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A. 2009 25;106(34):14681-6).

The successful candidate will be a
skillful and extremely motivated scientist with a PhD. She/he
must have a strong background in physiology, and cellular and molecular
electrophysiology, but, must
deal easily with the biochemistry of membrane proteins, cell biology and
molecular biology. The
applicant will be involved in collaborations with other members of the
group and must show a high
motivation to interdisciplinary work. He may also possess knowledge and
experience of another
excitable tissue than the heart. He will have the opportunity to use
different type of imagery tools such
as confocal, 3-D deconvolution microscopes, run FRAP experiments and
participate to the
development of TIRF (Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence) microscopy
and videomicroscopy.
